1. What is OHSAS18001 occupational health and safety management system?
Occupational health and safety management system (OHSAS18001) is a management system standard applicable to the occupational health and safety of any organization. The purpose is to reduce and prevent the loss of life, property, time and damage to the environment caused by accidents through management.
Ohsas18001:1999 provides an organization with a set of risk management methods:
- identify the hazard sources existing in the products, services, activities and working environment of the enterprise through professional investigation and evaluation and conformity identification of relevant regulatory requirements
- develop appropriate control plan for unacceptable hazard sources and risks
- implement control plan, regularly check and evaluate occupational health and safety regulations and plans
- establish a management system including organizational structure, responsibilities, training, information communication, emergency preparation and response, and continuously improve occupational health and safety performance.
On July 2, 2007, OHSAS18001 Standard Development Working Group officially issued the new version of OHSAS18001:2007 standard
